War damage
The commission for the evaluation of war damage to collections awarded the City of Orléans 1,390,260 francs in compensation for the destruction of the Paul Fourché Museum. Unlike the funds allocated to damage to the museum's real estate and furnishings, which had been earmarked for the Centre Charles Péguy and a fire station, the collections funds could be used for the museums until they were exhausted in 1973.
